Amy LaCour

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I grew up listening to my dad's soul record collection. I think that the first songs I ever heard were Stevie Wonder's- a pretty great place to start. When I was young, my mom signed me up for piano lessons. I protested. I am glad that her will was stronger than mine.
I went to college in New York. I was less interested in college than I was in the creative vibe of the city. It was there that I really learned to sing. I joined bands, listened to all types of music, started to write songs.
Eventually, I decided to return to the west coast, this time to Los Angeles where I now live. Here, I started to perform solo and gave greater focus to songwriting. In 2007, I got the opportunity to record, and released my first EP, Bitter Suite. It was pretty well received. American Songwriter gave it a four-star review, and Urban Network voted my song One Mans Stone one of the best songs of 2008. That led to radio play on several independent radio stations across the country.
Since that time I've been playing clubs and coffeehouses in and beyond Los Angeles. In the spring of 2009, I booked my first tour and hit the road playing solo throughout the American southwest and later that year, up the California coast. This year, the focus has been on recording a follow-up to Bitter Suite.

The Saint

Saint hails from Stockton, CA. His writing journey began in high school constructing love poems to girls he was afraid to talk to. When that didn’t work, he tabled his writing indefinitely. A few years ago, a nationwide spoken word competition came to his city and he decided to enter in it for fun. He never looked back. He has since toured all over California performing anywhere from Universities to coffee shops and has released a cd of his work. His style infuses humor, passion, and ideals which inspire as well as entertain. He has opened for hip-hop artists Talib Kweli and Lupe Fiasco and has shared the stage with the likes of Buddy Wakefield and Sonya Renee. One of his greatest joys has been teaching in writing workshops for young people in high schools and youth centers. He has competed in many “slam” competitions and is the 2009 “Ill-List” Champion and 2010 “King of the Mic” Champion. He currently hosts an open mic venue called The Pierced Ear Poetry Series in downtown Stockton. His most recent accomplishment was making the 2010 San Francisco Slam Team which competed at the National Slam Competition this August in St. Paul, Minnesota and placed in the top 10 ranking teams.

Supanova:

FROM HOOD TO HOOD AND BLOCK TO BLOCK, SUPANOVA IS FAST BECOMING A FORCE IN THE WORLD OF THE SPOKEN WORD. AS A VOCALIST, EMCEE, B-BOY, AND TRUMPETER, SUPANOVA HAS BEEN EDUTAINING AUDIENCE FROM SACRAMENTO TO THE BRITISH ISLES SINCE THE EARLY 1980’S. THIS MULTITALENTED YOUNG MAN IS CONSTANTLY STRIVING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GOD, HIS LIFE AND HIS PURPOSE AS A MAN AND AS A PROPONENT OF THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD. SINCE JUMPING INTO THIS ART WITH BOTH FEET IN 2002, HE HAS BEEN CONSIDERED, BY MANY, TO BE IN THE VANGUARD OF THIS GENERATION’S POETS. SUPANOVA STRIVES TO EDUCATE IN ADDITION TO ENTERTAINING HIS AUDIENCES WHO ARE CONTINUOUSLY BEING GIVEN OVER SEXUALIZED NEGATIVE IMAGES AS A FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT. BORN 10 DAYS AFTER HIPHOP SOLD OUT… IN OTHER WORDS, WENT COMMERCIAL, SUPANOVA HAS BEEN FIGHTING OFF THE STENCH OF BULL EVER SINCE. OF HIS LYRICAL PROWESS, DAVE TILTON OF LISTENANDBEHEARD.NET WRITES; “SUPANOVA’S LYRICS ARE LIKE A HIP-HOP STATE-OF-THE-UNION ADDRESS, DISCUSSING TOPICS RANGING FROM PERFORMERS KILLINGS EACHOTHER OVER PERCEIVED INSULTS TO THE BLING BLING CULTURE TO A LITANY OF THOSE WHO LEFT THE WORLD TOO SOON.” THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER SUPANOVA HAS SHARED THE STAGE WITH JAZZ LEDGENDS: BENNY WATERS, PANAMA FRANCIS, JANE JARVIS, AND MILT THE JUDGE HINTON. MOST RECENTLY BILLY CHILDS, CARMEN LUNDY, RAY NACIMIENTO, CARL ANDERSON, RIHANNON, FRANK AND AVA DUPREE, VIVIAN LEE. AND WITH HIPHOP LEDGENDS: KRS-ONE AND PRINCE RAHIM OF THE FURIOUS 5.
BECAUSE BOTH DEATH AND LIFE ARE BOTH HELD IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE, SUPANOVA CHOICES TO SPEAK LIFE AND PROSPERITY TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON HE CONTACTS BECAUSE SPOKEN WORD IS A MOVEMENT AND A MOVEMENT THAT IS NOT FRUITFUL AND DOES NOT LEAVE IT HOME BETTER THAN IT FIRST FOUND IT IS USELESS.

Lakeisha Mondy:

If jazz and soul had a child, they would name her Lakeisha Star Mondy. From birth, Lakeisha had musical influences. Growing up in a musical family, her mother a singer, her father a drummer, her aunt also a singer, Lakeisha is quickly showing the world what her parents meant when they gave her the middle name "Star". She is the vocal inspiration in the popular hip hop group "Compadre" and she has graced the stage with many well known acts, including opening for Donald Lacy's one man play "Colorstruck".She has performed on stages throughout the West Coast, and is gearing up for her album release and nationwide tour. She is a regular feature at Mics and Moods, Sacramento's venue for true music and culture.

Lakeisha's style is Erykah badu meets Sade meets Amel Larrieux. Her influences are Miles Davis,Ella Fitzgerald, Anita baker, joni Mitchell, and more. She is one of the few artists left who truly love music, it's lack of boundaries and endless imagination.
